Searches for this topic split roughly evenly between “I need to buy something” and “I’m not sure what I need” — more than most adapter categories. So before any product recommendation: figure out whether you need an adapter at all, then which one, then buy.
Step 1: does your vehicle already have Supercharger access?
Most automakers that adopted NACS negotiated Supercharger access as part of the switch, and the rollout has been staggered by brand and model year. Ford, Rivian, and several other 2024+ models shipped with an OEM-provided NACS adapter or gained access through a software update, with Tesla providing the physical adapter directly through a claim process for qualifying vehicles. Check your automaker’s app or owner portal for Supercharger access status before buying anything — you may not need to.

Step 2: which adapter you need
A CCS-port vehicle needs a CCS-to-NACS adapter (also searched as “NACS to CCS adapter” — same product, described from opposite directions) to plug into a Supercharger’s native NACS cable. This is a DC fast-charging adapter, carrying substantially higher current than the AC Level 2 adapters covered in our J1772 buying guide — which is why certification matters more here than in almost any other adapter category on this site.

Why certification is non-negotiable here
DC fast adapters carry current in the hundreds of amps at up to 500V — an order of magnitude beyond AC Level 2 adapters. Legitimate DC adapters use active liquid cooling in the adapter body, the same approach DC cabinets use in their cables. An uncertified or underbuilt DC adapter is a materially different risk than a cheap AC adapter failing. Top pick — Lectron NACS-to-CCS adapter. The most established aftermarket option for this direction, UL-listed, widely reviewed by non-Tesla drivers actually using it at Superchargers.
Alternative pick — A2Z NACS-to-CCS Combo adapter. A second certified option at a comparable price point, worth cross-shopping against Lectron on current listing price and stock.
Official option — Tesla’s own adapter program. Depending on your vehicle and automaker agreement, Tesla or your automaker may provide an adapter directly — check before buying aftermarket, since this is sometimes free or discounted for qualifying vehicles.
Avoid: any DC-rated adapter without a visible UL mark and a verifiable UL Product iQ listing. This is the one adapter category on this site where we won’t name a budget “avoid the certification check” option — the stakes don’t support it.
What you actually get once you’re plugged in
A CCS-port vehicle at a Supercharger is capped by its own onboard charging curve, not by the adapter — most 400V non-Tesla EVs peak in the 150–200 kW range regardless of Supercharger hardware generation. Combined with Tesla’s measured 99.3% uptime and 12–16 stalls per typical site, Superchargers are often the single most reliable fast-charging option available to a non-Tesla driver, adapter cost included.
